The brass body starts as a gravity casting. We use C36000-equivalent free-machining brass — we evaluated zinc alloy casting for a cost-reduction project a few years back and decided against it for the core body.
The long-term corrosion performance of zinc alloy in chlorinated water systems didn't meet our standards for export markets, and the weight difference is noticeable to end users in a way that affects perceived quality. Brass costs more to cast, but it's the right material for a product that needs to hold up in a hotel bathroom for a decade and not generate warranty calls.
